Discord is a messaging platform where users can interact, chat and communicate with each other. As we know while using messaging apps, people sometimes use offensive and bad words that could be sentimental and hurtful to others. Discord doesn’t have any built-in feature to do so. But we can use some external bots to ban words on Discord.

This article is a step-by-step guide about how to ban words on Discord.

How to Ban Words on Discord?

We can ban words on Discord using multiple methods. Some of them are listed below:

  • Using Dyno Bot
  • Using Anti-Swear Bot
  • Using Censor Bot

Let’s discuss them in detail one by one.

Method 1: How to Ban Words on Discord Using Dyno Bot

Dyno is a customizable, user-friendly bot that can be used to ban words on Discord server. It provides some additional features as well such as spam filtering etc.

Go to Dyno and Click on the “Login with Discord” Button.

Now you will be redirected to a new page where you can access your Discord account with Dyno. Click on “Authenticate” to proceed further.

Now choose your server. In my case, it’s MystiicMoth’s server. 

After choosing the server, click on the “Continue” Button.

Now click on the “Authorize” Button to integrate the Dyno Bot with your Discord server.

Now you will be redirected to the homepage of the Dyno Bot. Select your timezone and click on the Next Button.

Now choose the server channel you want to implement in the Bot. In my case, it’s general.

Go to the Automod option and enable it.  Now click on the Settings Button.

Now, click on the “Create Rule” Button.

Now provide an appropriate name for the rule and select its type. Our main purpose is to ban words so select “Bad Words”. Now in the section of Banned words, list some words that you want to Ban on your Discord server such as Murder, Blood, Crime, etc.

Now click on “Create Rule” to create the new “Word Ban” rule.

The new rule has been created successfully as shown below:

Method 2: Using Anti-Swear Bot

Anti-Swear Bot is a customizable bot that allows you to keep an account of bad words on your Discord server.

Let’s see practically how we can set up the Anti-Swear Bot on our Discord server.

Go to Anti-Swear Bot and click on the “Invite” Button.

You will be redirected a to new page where you will be asked to add your server to the Bot.

Afterward, you need to authorize the “Anti-Swear Bot” with Discord.

The authorization has been completed as shown below. Now go to your server.

The Anti-Swear Bot has been added to our Discord Server as illustrated below:

The Anti-Swear Bot’s message will pop up in the main channel as soon as you open the channel

Now type !help to receive a list of commands that will help you to manage your “Anti-Swear Bot”.

Method 3: Using Censor Bot

Censor Bot is one of the easiest bots to set up. This package includes messages, edits, etc.

Let’s see how we can set up the Censor bot on our Discord server.

Go to CensorBot and click on the Invite button.

You will redirected to a new page. Now add your server and click on “Continue”.

Click on Authorize to integrate the Censor Bot with your server.

The authorization has been completed. Now go to your server as shown below:
