Until recently Teamviewer 8 was only available in beta for Linux systems, including Ubuntu. Not anymore. Now you can install a fully stable version of TeamViewer for Linux machines which enables you to take advantage of some of the new features that were released.

This version comes with many new features including:

  • Session handover from one expert to another
  • Comment on sessions for billing documentation
  • Share selected groups with other TeamViewer accounts
  • Session recording, including sound and video
  • Remote account logout
  • TeamViewer 8 full version will now have a daemon service
  • Integrated TeamViewer Web connector
  • Enable basic authentication of proxies
  • Webcams are now supported for video-screaming during meetings

 

Issues also fixed during the beta phase are:

  • Fixed issues during the installation of TeamViewer
  • Fixed some issues where the TeamViewer daemon did not start automatically after system bootup
  • Fixed issues with incoming and LAN connections
  • Various other minor fixes and improvements

 

To install Teamviewer 8 in Ubuntu, press Ctrl – Alt – T on your keyboard to open the terminal. When it opens, run the commands below to download the deb package.

For 32-bit systems

wget http://www.teamviewer.com/download/teamviewer_linux.deb

wget http://www.teamviewer.com/download/teamviewer_linux_x64.deb

 

After downloading the file, run the commands below to install it.

sudo dpkg -i *teamviewer_linux*

Go to Dash to launch it.

To completely uninstall Teamviewer, run the commands below:

sudo apt-get purge teamviewer && sudo apt-get autoremove
