While the average user won’t ever used Remote Desktop in Windows 8, it is a very important tool to have especially if you have two machines and want to manage them from a single location. Remote Desktop is commonly used in a work environment where users are sometimes in different locations, and managing systems that are in separate areas remotely is one of the reasons this tool was developed by Microsoft.

Remote Desktop has been part of Windows for a very long time. It is included in all versions of Windows beginning with Windows XP but is disabled by default.

This brief tutorial is going to show you how to allow Ubuntu machines to connect to Windows 8 using Remote Desktop Protocol.
