An update to LibreOffice has just been released and it’s available to install in Ubuntu. This update improves on LibreOffice stability as well as bug fixes in Calc, Impress, and third party formats.

This brief tutorial is going to show you how to upgrade your current installation of LibreOffice to take advantage of the newer released version in Ubuntu 12.04.

Upgrade to LibreOffice version 3.5.5 in Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin)

To get started, press Ctrl – Alt – T on your keyboard to open the terminal. When it opens, run the commands below to add its PPA repository.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa

 

libreoffice_update_3-5-5

 

Finally, run the commands below to update your system and upgrade LibreOffice.

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install libreoffice libreoffice-gnome
