Recently I have had some requests from friends and family members to get rid of viruses and spyware from infected Windows computers. Interestingly, most of the problem PCs have been Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. It seems like Linux systems are more secure after all.
Anyway, the easiest and quickest way to get rid of most viruses in Windows, is to perform a system restore to an earlier time when the system wasn’t infected. This could be the previous week or month, and might save you tons of time and money.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to get rid of nasty malware programs by restoring your systems.
Objectives:
- Perform system restore to get rid of malware, spyware and viruses
- Enjoy!
A good sign that your PC is infected is when you begin to see pop-ups everywhere prompting you to download security software to scan your PC and make it run faster. If your PC is running slow and you’re getting alerts to purchase something you don’t want, the first thing to do is shutdown your PC and follow the guide below.
After you have shutdown you PC, push the power button to turn it on and immediately begin pressing the F8 key on your keyboard.
When you seen the screen below, select ‘Safe Mode with Networking’ and press Enter.
Login and go to Start –> All Programs –> Accessories –> System Tools –> System Restore’
System Restore should provide you a wizard to follow and restore your system to an earlier time.
Follow the wizard and select a previous date and time to restore to and click ‘Next’
Finally, click ‘Finish’ to begin restoring your system.
Wait for the system to complete and hopefully, all traces of the virus will be gone.
Enjoy!
