In Part One, we showed you how to register and create a new hostname and how to create a ‘Defense Plan’. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to configure Windows Systems so that your Defense Plan can be applied. When done correctly, DynDNS will begin filtering out content that are not suitable for your system.
Getting started:
To get started, click ‘Start –> then search for and select ‘View network connections’
View network connections
Next, right-click on ‘Local Area Connection’ and select ‘Properties’
Then select ‘Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)’ and click ‘Properties’
Next, choose to ‘Use the following DNS server addresses’, then type the Preferred and Alternate DNS server addresses below:
216.146.35.35216.146.36.36
After saving, close out and click here to download DynDNS Updater Client.
Follow the prompts until you have installed the client.
Click ‘Next’ here to continue.
Then click ‘Install’
After installing, DynDNS Updater will automatically launch. Type your DynDNS username and password and click ‘Okay’
Finally, select the your hostname you created, and click ‘Apply’
That’s all to it! Now your defense plan is active, all inappropriate content will be blocked.
Next time, I’ll show you how to configure Ubuntu 11.04 to use the same filter and begin filtering out bad content.
