Enable Ubuntu Classic Desktop in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal

ubuntu_nattyThis article shows you how to enable Ubuntu Classic Desktop in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty. You probably already know that Ubuntu Natty comes with a new desktop environment called Unity. Now, If Unity is installed as your desktop environment and you’re not quite ready for it just yet, then this tutorial will show you how to switch back to Ubuntu Classic Desktop.

 

Getting started:

 

To get started, go to ‘Power –> System Settings’

Then select ‘System –> Login Screen’

Next, click ‘Unlock’ and type your password.

Finally, select ‘Ubuntu Classic’ as your default session and close.

That’s all. Every time Ubuntu starts, Ubuntu Classic will always be used.

    I’m running 11.04 in the classic mode, but I cannot get LibreOffice to work. I am having a slew of problems with this OS, but I’m not ready to jump ship yet.
