Schedule Backup Jobs with LuckyBackup in Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat)

Ubuntu Maverick ImageThere are many backup tools in Ubuntu and LuckyBackup is just one of them. We have covered many of them here and today, I will show you how to install and use LuckBackup in Ubuntu to schedule backup jobs. LuckyBackup uses the power of rsync to backup and synchronize directories. It’s simple to use and keeps your data safe by backing them up regularly at a scheduled interval.

 

Getting started:

 

To get started, go to Applications –> Ubuntu Software Center.

Then search for and install luckybackup.

After installing, go to Applications –> System Tools –> luckyBackup

Next, click the ‘Add’ button just below ‘Task’ on the right.

Then select the Source (directory you wish to backup) and Destination (location to save the backup) folders. One of the most important directories to backup in Ubuntu is the /home folder. Click Okay when finish.

When you’re done adding the directories to backup, you must put a check mark into the box show below for the job to be activated.

Next, select ‘Profile –> Schedule’ to schedule a task.

Click ‘Add’

Then specify how often you want the job to run and click ‘okay’ to save.

Then last thing to do is click ‘cronIT !!’ button.

Close out and you’re done!
