Configure Nautilus to Always Use Location Entry in Fedora 14 (Laughlin)

fedora14-thumbThis brief tutorial will show you how to configure Nautilus File Browser in Fedora to always show the location entry when browsing folders. This is helpful in that you can see the full path of the current folder in the location bar. If you’re new to Fedora, then this might be a good thing for you to enable.

Getting started:

To get started, read this post and install gconf-editor.

After installing gconf-editor, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type the command below and click ‘Run’.

gconf-editor

fedora_location_entry

Then navigate to apps –> nautilus –> preferences and check the box for ‘always_use_location_entry’

apps --> nautilus --> preferences

fedora_location_entry_1

Next, try browsing folders in nautilus and you should see the full path of the current folder.

fedora_location_entry_2

Enjoy!
