If you’re new to Ubuntu then you probably have noticed your computer screen keeps going dark when not in use. If you want to stop it, then this tutorial will show you how. Your screen goes blank because Ubuntu is installed with power saving options turned on. When your computer sits idle for a while, power-saving mode kicks in and turn off the monitor.
Getting started:
To get started, go to System –> Preferences –> Screensaver.
Then un-check the boxes shown below:
Activate screensaver when computer is idle
Lock screen when screensaver is active
Next, click ‘Power Management’
Then select Never for both:
Actions
Display
Close out when you’re done.
Enjoy!
