Disable the Dialog to Confirm Logout, Restart or Shutdown in Ubuntu 10.04/10.10 Maverick Meerkat
Everytime you clicked logout, restart or shutdown in Ubuntu, you’ll get a dialog prompt to confirm whether you want to perform such action. If that is something you want disabled, this tutorial will show you how to disable it in Ubuntu Lucid or Maverick.
Try to logout and you’ll get ‘Are you sure you want close all programs and log out of the computer?’
To disable that, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type the command below:
gconf-editor
Then scroll down to apps –> indication-session and check ‘suppress_logout_restart_shutdown’
apps --> indicator-session
Next, logout and this time you shouldn’t get the prompt to confirm.
Thanks for reading and please come back soon.
My version of 10.10 has this feature in Configuration Editor under Schemas;apps;indicator-session. But all menu items are locked. A pop-up window says, “Currently pairs and schemas cant’ be edited. This will be changed in a later version.” So perhaps CLI (Terminal) is the way to go.
wow! thank you very much for this! this morning, my laptop was still on, and it was veeeeeery hot, because i left it on the sofa… an that because i forgot to say “yes i am sure that i want to shut down the computer” – so, THANKS for having helped me saving my laptop!
