How to Change or Set Samba Workgroup Name in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat

This tutorial will show you how to quickly change or set Samba workgroup name in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. Getting Started:

 

To get started, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type the command below and click Run:

gksu gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf

samba_workgroup_mav

 

Then look for the line in the file that looks like this:

workgroup = WORKGROUP

 

samba_workgroup_mav_1

 

To set or change the workgroup name, change ‘WORGROUP’ to whatever you like and save the file.
