Disable Unnecessary Services and Programs When You Login To Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx

Sometimes it’s not the best thing to have unnecessary programs and services running whenever you login to Ubuntu. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to disable some of those services from starting everytime you login to your desktop.

Getting started:

To get started, go to System –> Preferences –> Startup Applications

Next, uncheck all programs and services you don’t want to automatically startup everytime you login to your computer.

Items are gray-out when they are disabled

Click Close when you’re done.

Enjoy! And thanks for reading.
