This tutorial will show you how to covert your audio files into FLAC, MP3, WAV, AAC (MP4) or other formats easily in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid with Gnac audio converter. Gnac is a fantastic converter that lets you convert one audio format into another. If you’ve been looking an easy to use audio converter in Ubuntu, then look no further than Gnac.
Getting started:
The first thing you need to do is install ‘Ubuntu restricted extras’ for optimal results. To learn how to install ‘Ubuntu restricted extras, read this post.
After installing that package, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type the commands below and click Run:
gksu software-properties-gtk
Next, select ‘Other Software’ tab, then click the ‘Add’ button
Next, type the line below and click ‘Add Source’
ppa:gnac-team/ppa
Close out. When prompted to reload, click ‘Reload’
Go to Applications –> Ubuntu Software Center
Type ‘gnac’ in the search box, then select Gnac package and click ‘Install’
After installing, go to Application –> Sound & Video –> Gnac
Click Edit –> Preferences to setup your preferences.
Choose where to put the converted files or choose to save it in the same folder as source.
Choose the format you want to convert your file into.
When you’re done, click Add and add tracks to be converted. You could select multiple tracks by press Ctrl-Shift and selecting.
These are the wav files that were converted.
