How To Install Chromium (Google Chrome) On Fedora, CentOS

fedora14-thumb_thumbThis brief tutorial will show you how to easily install Google Chrome in Fedora 14, codename Laughlin. If Chrome is your favorite web browser and you want to learn how to install it in Fedora, then this tutorial is for you. It will be short and quick.

 

Getting started:

 

To get started, use beesu to create a new repository for Chrome. To learn how to install and use beesu, read this post.

 

When ready, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type the command below and click Run:

beesu gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/google.repo

fedora_14_chrome_thumb[1]

 

Then edit the file as shown below and save.

Next, go to System –> Administration –> Add/Remove Software.

Then search for and install Google Chrome

When prompted to install additional packages, click ‘Continue’.

When prompted if you want to trust the source of the package click ‘Yes’.

After installing, go to Applications –> Internet –> Google Chrome.

  1. You can also install Chromium but do not use Tom Callaway’s chromium repo because it installs unstable Chromium 11 that crashes all the time, instead use these instructions to install stable Chromium 10 on Fedora:

    I see a mistake in this post/article. Its only compatible with Fedora/RHEL. No is valid for CentOS.
