Windows Live Photo Gallery is part of Microsoft Windows Live Essentials which lets you to manage and organize your photos, and then post them online or send them to friends. Now you can easily edit and manage your photos, upload them securely to your online albums and share with friends or family with just few clicks.
This tutorial shows you how to download and install Windows Live Photo Gallery on your Windows machines and setup your online photo albums.
To get started, you need a Windows Live Essentials account. If you already have hotmail account, it can also be used as your Windows Live account.
To register for Windows Live account, go to http://home.live.com
Installing Windows Live Essentials:
After signing up, click here to download Live Essentials.
Click Run to begin the installation
Install only Live Essentials services you need. For this tutorial, I’ll install Photo Gallery and Movie Maker. Uncheck the other services from the list and click Install.
Click Continue
Next click Start –> and type Windows Live Photo Gallery in the search box and select the Photo Gallery from the list.
Enter your Windows Live ID or Hotmail username and password and Sign In.
Photo Gallery automatically scan your Pictures and Videos folders and list all images here.
Because you’re automatically given a 25GB free storage online after signing up for Windows Live Essentials, you can now upload your photos online by selecting it and click Publish –> Online Album.
Next, select and existing online album or create a new one. Then you can either make the album public for everyone to see or make it just for you to see or those in your network. When you’re done, click Publish.
Your photos will be published online.
Your photos are uploaded and ready to be shared with friends or families. This is also a secure way to safeguard your photos in the event that your computer crashes, your photos will be stored online.

To synchronize your online photo with Photo Gallery, click File –> Setup gallery sync. Enter your Live ID to login. This will allow for automatically synchronization with your online album.
There are other benefits that one can get from Photo Gallery and online album. You can also add plug-ins that helps you post photos to Facebook, flickr and other social networking websites.
