This tutorial will show you how to upgrade your existing Kubuntu Linux System to Lucid Lynx 10.04 alpha, but it’s highly recommended that you don’t do it on a production system or your default workstation. As with any beta software, all the kinks have yet to be resolved, and more changes might be added before the final product is released.
To continue anyway, follow my tutorial below.
Upgrading to Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Beta 1
Type Alt-F2 on your keyboard to bring up the command prompt, then enter the command below
update-notifier-kde -d
Review the upgrade note and click the Upgrade button
Enter your password and click OK.
Support for some applications will end after you upgrade. Click Close to continue
Next click the Start Upgrade button
Wait for the upgrade to complete. This can take upward of 15 to 30 minutes.
Click Remove to get rid of obsolete packages installed on your computer.
Restart your computer for the upgrade to take effect.
That’s all to it. Enjoy your new system and come back soon.
