How To Install Fonts In Windows XP, Vista, and 7

This short tutorial will show you how to install your favorite fonts in Windows. If you come across a nice looking font online, and you have the options to download and install it, this tutorial will show you how to do that.

By default in Windows, fonts are stored in C:\WINDOWS\fonts folder, unless you have custom folders or applications settings that look in a different location.

 

Installing fonts in Windows XP:

 

Download free fonts from here 

 

Next go to Start –> Run

 

fonts_install

 

Type the following commands and press enter.

%windir$\fonts

 

fonts_install_1

 

Next, click File –> Install New Fonts..

Browse to the location you saved the downloaded fonts. Once located, select the font and click OK.

Your new should display at the top of the font’s folder.

Installing Fonts in Windows Vista and 7:

 

In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start –> and type Run, then select the Run program from the list above.

Then enter the following command and press enter

%windir%\fonts

Right-click on any blank area and select Install New Fonts..

Locate the font and install

Next close out and go to the application and select the font to use.
