There may be some good reasons why you wouldn’t want to use or enable some of Windows Vista or Windows 7 features. For instance, Internet Explorer — maybe you like Firefox or Chrome and you don’t really use Internet Explorer anymore — well, you can get rid of Internet Explorer altogether and free up some space on your computer.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to disable features in Windows you don’t want enabled.
Getting started:
To get started, click Start –> and type ‘Programs and Features’ in the search box, then click the program above.
Select ‘Turn Windows features on or off’ from the left menu
To remove Internet Explorer 8, uncheck the box next to it.
To remove the default ‘Games’ in Window, uncheck the box. To individually remove games, expand the group and uncheck the box next to each game you want to remove.
If you have a different media program like ITunes or other audio programs, you can safely remove Windows Media Player here. When done click the OK button to apply the changes.
Wait for the changes to apply. You may have to restart your computer once they are all disabled.
That’s all to it. Check to see after the process and Internet Explorer should be gone. Windows Media and Games should also be disabled.
To enable to programs, follow the same steps above to enable them.
