For many, it’s because they can’t afford a second PC to install Linux. Others want to try Linux but don’t know how or how easily it can be done.
In this simple-to-follow tutorial, I will show you how to run a full edition of Knoppix Linux onto your Windows machine from a CD or DVD drives without affecting or modifying the machine. Running Knoppix from a CD/DVD makes it easy to experience all that Linux has to offer in terms of security, stability, and usability without actually disturbing your Windows Operating System.
Knoppix is a free Linux OS and applications compressed and packaged onto a CD or DVD that boots and runs entirely from the CD or DVD drives of your computer. It includes most of the applications and software that make up the Linux OS. Knoppix is known by Linux enthusiasts as the distribution of choice for newcomers. It allow newcomers to test and try Linux before actually installing it.
To test Knoppix and see if it fits your needs, then follow my slides below.
1) Click here to download an ISO image of Knoppix or buy the CD or DVD to be mailed to you.
if you’re downloading the ISO image, you’ll need to burn it to a blank CD or DVD before you can boot from it. To learn how to burn ISO image click here
2) With the live CD or DVD in your hands, pop it into your computer’s CD/DVD Rom drive and boot from it.
3) Wait for the CD or DVD to auto boot and continue.
4) Within few seconds, your system is ready.
5) Refreshing to know that VirtualBox comes as part of the package.
6) If you need to install a program click on bottom far left icon (Start) –> Preferences –> Synaptic Package Manager.
7) Search and select the package to install then click Apply.
Packages will be downloaded and installed.
