Burning CDs and DVDs is a skill every PC user has to learn over time. With the ever increasing media formats we have to contend with, finding the right tool to do the job is the challenging part. There is a high chance that you’ll need some kind of CD/DVD burning software to help you burn your favorite music, movies or games onto a blank CD or DVD someday.

 

In this simple tutorial, I’ll show you how to use CDBurnerXP to burn your CDs, DVDs, HD-DVDs, Blue-Ray and ISO images onto a blank media disk.

CDBurnerXP is a free program that helps you burn CDs, DVDs, including Blue-Ray and HD-DVDs onto a blank disk. It also has a feature to create and burn ISO images called bootable disks. Burning ISO images is another skill that will have to be learned because we go through lots of tutorials about burning ISO images here.

 

The current version (4.2.7) runs on Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008 and Windows 7 and supports multi-language interface.

 

 

To get started with burning and creating ISO images, please continue below with the tutorial.

 

1) Download a copy of the program from here.

 

2) Click Run to begin the installation. When prompted again click Run and continue.

 

 

3) Click Next to continue and then accept the License Agreement.

 

 

4) Choose a destination to store the program’s files. On the next screen uncheck the language you don’t want to support in the program and continue.

 

 

5) Accept the default file name or create a new one. Next select additional tasks and continue with the installation.

 

 

6) Click Finish to launch the program. On the right is the default launch screen of CDBurnerXP. Choose a task and continue.

 

 

 

Coping Audio Disc

 

To copy the contents of one disk to another, put the blank CD or DVD into computer drive used for burning (CD/DVD Burner). Put the original disc into the other drive.  Click the ‘x’ to close the AutoPlay prompt. Next click ‘Copy disc’ –> Copy Audio

 

 

Select the Source device (drive with the original CD), and target device (drive with blank CD). Click OK when done.

 

 

Creating an ISO Image

 

Select Burn ISO image from the list and click OK. Next click the Browse button to select the ISO image to be burned. The target device is the CD/DVD burner. Click Burn disc when done.

 

 

 

Converting file to an ISO Image

 

Select Data disc from the list and click OK. Next click File –> Convert ISO image then browse for the image file you need to create as an ISO.

 

 

All these functions can also be accessed from the menu of the program. You’ll need to spend some time with the program to really know all the functions available to you.
