I got my hands on Google Wave, finally.

waveIf you’re into technology news as I am, you probably know about the upcoming Google Wave currently in beta which is designed to revolutionize the way we use online tools to communicate.

With email becoming our primary tool for communications online, follow social networking sites, text messaging, chat-rooms and blogs, companies are looking to tap into the next big thing which will combine all these different tools into one platform.

Google fired the first shot by releasing the Wave to developers for testing two weeks ago and believe me, this will not be the only shot fired. Others will follow with more shots and more ways to communicate using different tools.

I have been following Google since the year 2000 and today, it is nothing like it was then. Then, Google was known as an online search engine which is quite different today.

Today, Google have much more to offer then just searching. Google have a webmail service called Gmail, photo editing program called Picasa, web browser called Chrome and many more. I always find myself among the select few that Google chooses to review their betas not because I am an expert in the field, but because I have been a dedicated Google fan ever since.

What is Google Wave?

Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

Reading the above from Google, you’d bet; they’re not joking when it comes to communication, Google wants to win big. Others will not sit waiting for Google to take over the way we communicate. They will come up with something — maybe "The Wave Killer"? This battle is just beginning. Google Wave is not yet open to the general public but you can request an invitation to Wave here.
